Serpentine Shiraz
Wine
Passing Clouds Serpentine Shiraz, made only in quality years, is sourced from the Serpentine Vineyard on the banks of the Loddon River north-west of Bendigo.
Bendigo is ripe for Shiraz, and the Serpentine Vineyard is no exception. Its warm, dry climate and soils of sandy clay loam over red clay make it right for the variety.
The fruit is destemmed and hand sorted. Traditional vinification takes place in open stainless steel fermenters with twice daily hand plunging. Post ferment, the wine macerates on skins for 45 days.
It is then sent to neutral French oak to mature. The best barrels are selected for the final blend, which is aged for at least 12 months in bottle before release.
Deep purple, Passing Clouds Serpentine Shiraz has dense fruit flavours held upright by velvety tannins, subtle spice and a long finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
